The INSPIRE database contains numerous newspapers for local history research. With the addition of Lafayette newspapers to the state library's Newspapers.com database, this program will focus on using these digitized newspapers exclusively to conduct local history research.

Using Newspapers.com, patrons will discover the story of Bud Fowler, the first black professional baseball player, and his experiences in Lafayette in 1888 to learn how to use Newspapers.com for their research.
